Threads Users Disappointed at the Apps’ High Battery Consumption

But is it worth the fuss and hype? A section of social media users think it is not.

Threads is a new social media app launched by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg to rival Elon’s Twitter. Within five days of its launch, the app surpassed 100 million users.

Even with the high number of users who joined Threads, several people have come out to criticize it saying it is draining their smartphone’s battery.

Several users expressed their frustration with the new social media app and even took to Twitter to highlight this issue.

For instance, a user twitted that Threads is draining their phone’s battery at a “lightning-fast” speed.

Another user, disappointed at the App’s high battery consumption compared it with other applications, noting that Threads topped the list of apps consuming high battery. According to this user, Threads alone was consuming 53% of the phone’s energy compared to Twitter with a low consumption of only 12%.

Despite several users highlighting this problem, Meta has not commented on the issue. Nevertheless, the number of Threads users has continued to surge.

The New York Post noted that there has been a significant fall in Twitter’s traffic by around 11% since the launch of Meta’s Threads.

Even as this happens, Twitter announced that it would be suing Meta for allegedly using its trade secrets alongside other confidential information.

However, in response to the accusations, Meta pointed out that none of the former Twitter’s employees were included in Threads’ engineering team.
